Mercedes | W108

The Mercedes w108 replaced in 1965 its predecessor W111 known as "fintail", corresponding to the top of the range available to date by Mercedes Benz. In this 280 SEL (long version), the chassis is the same as the W109 (300 SEL, twin brother of the W108), but with conventional suspensions replacing the self-levelling air suspension. With an 3.5L V8 engine, produced in the final phase of this model (1970/72) with 200 horse power, this car is a true rarity having been produced only 951 of them, being even rarer its original manual gearbox.

In particular this vehicle originally came with rather enjoyable colour combination: Metallic bronze brown (exterior) and light brown velour upholstery.

This Mercedes 280 SEL 3.5, originally sold in Portugal, was purchased by us in its completely original, unrestored state, without corrosion, paint and original interiors. We´ve choose for a non-intrusive but complete restoration, bringing it back to its original splendour. The carried-out work contemplated its dismantling, painting, complete mechanical restoration and detailed recovery of the interiors keeping all the upholstery and original carpets with its beautiful patine.

It is a very rare car, with matching numbers and colours and in an exceptional state
