The XJ series came to replace a whole series of full-sized luxury cars from the brand, promising a renewed breath in terms of performance and quality to Jaguar's luxury saloons. Production started in 1968 and remained in production for 51 years. The first generation (series 1,2 and 3) was produced for a total period of 24 years.
The model here presented corresponds to series 1, produced between 1968 and 1973 based on the renewed engine of the XK series in its 4.2 liter form, evolved suspensions, extremely appealing design, luxury and good taste in the interior that made this car an essential milestone for the era.
It is a car originally delivered in Portugal, as stated in the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, registered in 1972 and had only 2 previous owners. Its previous owner kept the car parked in a garage for over 30 years. The bodywork was in excellent condition but required an extensive mechanical intervention, namely: suspensions, shock absorbers, brakes, hydraulic hoses, new exhaust system, differential and a complete mechanical overhaul. An interior and exterior detailing operation was also carried out.
This is a matching number and colors car, with a magnificent combination of classic colors, in a close to perfection condition.
